APPLICATION:
APPLICATION TIPS:
- Wait 24 hours after painting or sealing before applying your transfer.
- Ensure your beginning piece is very clean. It should be allowed to fully dry. For porous surfaces like wood this could mean allowing it 24 hours to dry. Any dust or debris can cause adherence issues. Use caution not to clean with harsh chemicals. Chemical residue can also cause adhesion issues.
- If you are using parts of a transfer instead of the entire transfer, do your cutting before you remove the white backing. Once you remove the backing the transfer will want to stick to whatever it comes into contact with. Save your unused pieces for other projects!
- Choose the location of your transfer before removing the white backing. (Once the transfer is placed it begins to stick very quickly and can be difficult to reposition).
- Waxed, glazed and glossy paint can be difficult for the transfers to adhere to. It is best to use a matte surface that has been coated with a water based polycrylic.
- Send a picture of your beautiful finished piece to the Weeping Mermaid to be shared and adored!
SEALING TIPS:
- Seal all projects before you apply and after application. (Glass and mirrors do not need to be sealed before or after. Sealing them can cause them to look blurry or hazy).
- The best sealants are water based polys and top coats or furniture wax. (Buffing the wax will not hurt your transfer).
- Furniture wax should only be used to seal the piece after the transfer has been applied. It is not recommended to use wax as a base between the item and the transfer.
- If a transfer is not thoroughly adhered to a surface, sealing it will not fix it. The transfer should be fully adhered before you seal it.
OUR FAVORITE SEALERS:
